SEARCH 13TH NOVEMBER

17 members appeared out of the misty morning for a search on newly acquired land. We had access to a vast area of mainly ploughed land and, due to recent deluges, the digging was easy. Gradually, the mist disappeared and the sun came out for a while. Some good finds also came out, including – by the time I left – three hammered coins, two nice thimbles, some pre decimal coins, an inscribed horse brass and other artefacts. I will post a more detailed list as soon as Geoff sends me the info.

Geoff prepared a field assemblage record of finds – a method described elsewhere on this website. All are reminded of the need to have notable finds properly recorded either by Geoff or the relevant FLO. You are encouraged to post your finds on our Facebook page without identifying the site.

I know it was ploughed land, but I did notice some not very good refilling here and there. Howard, the owner, is keen eyed and is likely to notice this. Please do a proper job. We have until the Spring to return.
