Consultation Document – Amendments to the Treasure Act

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
TO ALL ASSOCIATE MEMBERS OF LEGISE:NCMD(SR)
You may not be aware that the government has launched a consultation document that will affect us
as a collective. They want to implement restrictions on our hobby and change the status quo that has
existed since the introduction of the Treasure Act in 1996.
There is a document on line that response from all detectorists who care about the future of the
hobby.
Detectorists will have an opportunity to make comments and have their collective views considered.
It is vital that as many hobbyists contribute to this debate. There are various ways you can do this.
You can read and reply to the consultation:
• Online
• By downloading and completing the response form
• By email
There is a guide below for you to follow.
This consultation started on 1 February 2019 and ends at 11.45pm on 30 April 2019
If you have any further enquiries, please contact treasure@culture.gov.uk
It is absolutely vital that as many detectorists respond to the document as this is our hobby and we
do not want to be restricted in the years to come.
