Message Body:
Hello,

I hope you do not mind me emailing you but I was wondering whether you might be able to help me.

My name is Charlotte Keyte and I work for an independent television production company called RDF Television and we make a number of high profile shows for all the major channels.

We are currently producing the second series of Collectaholics for BBC2, a primetime show presented by antiques expert Mark Hill which explores people’s passion for collecting. We are looking for great collectors who are passionate about their collections, we want to celebrate these collections and also look at the social history behind the pieces. We want to speak to all kinds of people, from those who are constantly searching for that elusive final item, or maybe their collection is taking over their homes and they may want help to display, curate or thin out the collection. We want to find out about their collections and what inspired them to start!

One area we are really interested in doing some more research into is collections that have been collated using metal detectors or mud larking. I do not know a huge amount about metal collecting or mud larking I was interested in trying to find out more about what sort of things people might collect using these methods, whether there are rules about what items you can keep or whether you have to turn anything over, whether most people send items they find to museums etc. It would be great if I could ask you a few questions. Also, if you know of any people who do have large collections of items they have found using metal detectors and you know of anyone it would be fantastic if you would be willing to help me get in contact with them or you might be able to suggest someone else who could help.

We have recently opened the application process and are keen to extend this opportunity to as many applicants as possible so I am grateful for anything you can do to help. We start filming this autumn and are very keen to speak to enthusiastic collectors!

If you would like to ask any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on 020 7013 4138 or email me on charlotte.keyte@rdftelevision.com.

I would be grateful for any help you can give me and thank you for your time.

Best wishes,
Charlotte Keyte
