Christmas Gathering 2011

The club held it’s annual Christmas gathering on Friday 16th December. Despite the threat of snow showers that had hit Kent earlier in the day, the evening was cold but uneventful weatherwise!

About twenty club members gathered in St. Francis Church Hall, West Wickham to enjoy festive food brought along by members and soft drinks provided by the Club. Members chatted, listened to festive music and took part in a competition organised by Ken & Gill.

After the monthly competition was judged and  the points calculated, it was established that Ken P. was Finder of the Year with 152 points – well done Ken!

The members gathered around the finds table to vote for Artefact of the Year, Coin of the Year and Eyes Only Find of the Year. The results were conclusively in favour of: The Gold Eschudo found by Stephen J. for Coin of the Year, The Iron Age brooch found by Gill A. for Artetfact of the Year and the flint spear head found by Ken P. for Eyes Only Find of the Year – Congratulations to these finders.

It was also decided to award the trophy for most help from a non-committee member to Paul B. for his help at the club external exhibitions.

The Committee wish all the members a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
